My "Horse Art" History...

I have collected model horses since I was very young. I've always had a love for dogs and horses right from the start! My horse collection was a way to fill a void until I had the chance to own a real horse. At one time I had collected over 500 models.

By 1983, I had convinced my parents to buy me a horse. She was 4 years old, and not well trained considering what we paid for her. Dangerous was more like it, and certainly not the ideal mount for a teen-ager. But as they say, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, and she certainly was a learning experience. Instead of finding her a better home, I discovered an inborn talent for training horses, and learned so much in the process.
At my very first horse show with her, I managed to beat out many experienced riders, taking 2nd. in Western Pleasure, and then went on to win 1st. in Equitation. It was an impressive win, with over 20 horses in each class.

In the future I hope to have the opportunity to raise and train Arabian and Saddlebred horses. I currently own an 18 year old Bay Arabian gelding (a Fadjur Grandson) that I have owned since he was 3. Many years ago, I trained him and showed him to an AHSA Regional Championship in English Pleasure. (Saddleseat)

In 2000, I combined my artistic talents with my love of horses, and began customizing horse models. These models have now been sold as far away as Holland, England, and Germany, and have been extremely popular on e-bay... often fetching up to $200. for a simple repaint.

Most of my time now is spent taking care of my German Shepherds . I have owned several Champions, including a National Select Champion. My dogs are an important part of my life, and I owe a lot to them. I often bring home retired, and older Shepherds to give them a good retirement home. Unfortunately, there is a lot of heartbreak involved in caring for older animals... often times I only have a dog for a few months before it develops a life threatening health problem and dies. All-in-all though, I am deeply touched by each and every dog I bring into my life, and wouldn't trade my experiences with them for anything.
